CAMPING  – Mona’s Plan

Mona has been working behind the scenes and has put together a group package at Silver Dollar City Campground. This includes:

  • 2 loft cabins
  • 10 basic 30-amp RV sites
  • Access to a clubhouse
  • All sites located together

Total cost: $4,466.42 (discounted rate)
Deposit required: $773.48 total
Mona is asking for a $100 deposit per person to secure the reservation.

I told Mona this is TOO much. She started out with 20 campsites, so she lowered it to 10.  She says we can cancel the ones we don’t need and we will still get the discount. She also said we can put 1 tent and 1 trailer on each site.  My head just doesn’t want to do the math for all this.

Cabin Details:
Sleeps 7 (Queen Bed Downstairs + 2 Full Beds & 1 Twin in Loft) Kitchenette w/ Full-Size Refrigerator, Microwave, Stove, Dishes, Pots & Pans Wood-Burning Fireplace Bathroom with Shower Heat & A/C Wireless Internet Cable Television Hairdryer Coffee Maker & Toaster (Available Upon Request) Gas BBQ Grill with Grilling Utensils, Picnic Table & Fire Ring

Pros:

  • Indoor space to gather if the weather turns cold
  • We have indoor area to cook.
  • Cabins offer flexibility for sleeping arrangements.
  • Free Shuttle to Silver Dollar City

Cons:

  • Higher overall cost
  • Loft sleeping may not be accessible. Unsure if accessible by ladder or stairs.

Mona has used GROK to help her write a speech to the City Council.  She plans to invite all parade participants  and all of Branson,  to participate in the Convoy, which is why she has schedule the convoy directly following the parade.   She plans to tell the city council this is the last year for Convoy of Honor.

Mona has told me she is tired and this will be the last year.  She of course could change her mind.  Currently she is busy working on her Fairy Garden/Patio area and her Billions of dollars AI hydroponics garden project proposal with Grok who has it all figured out.

Do you guys want to to stick with Mona’s plan?

If so, you can skip the remainder of this page.  It should be noted however, if we chose to go with something other than Mona’s plan it may upset her.

After a few conversations last year,  Michael and I drove around looking for the best place to camp AS A GROUP.   We looked at the closest four options, both campgrounds at Table Rock State Park, Silver Dollar City and Indian Point.

Option 1 – Indian Point (Army Corps of Engineers)

Indian point turns water off Nov. 1.

Last year on Nov. 11th they had a sign that said, “Closed, Free Dry Camping” and there were a few campers there.

Google Search “Is Indian Rock USACE campground in Missouri going to offer dry camping in Nov. 2026”
Results:  Based on historical data for Table Rock Lake, Indian Point Campground (a USACE facility in Branson, MO) has historically offered free, primitive dry camping (no water/sewer/electric) from November 1 through March 31. However, always confirm by calling 877-444-6777 as policies can change.

If you guys are interested in bringing generators, RV port-a-johns, water and so forth I can call Army Corps of Engineers verify if they will be open and get details.

Option 2 – Our Usual Spot (Table Rock Campground #2)

Just checked availability at Table Rock, near where we’ve stayed in the past.

  • Electric sites: $36/night
  • Non-electric sites: $16/night
  • Several nearby sites available to keep us together circled best option.

Pros:

  • Familiar and comfortable location
  • Budget-friendly

Cons:

  • No indoor gathering space if it’s cold, except for somebody’s trailer or  hang out at Lake Vibez.
  • Meals would be outdoors, in trailers or eating out.
  • No place for Papa, which means Kentucky can’t stay either (big tears).

Optional:  Rent a Yurt  $ 159 per night

Currently 4 of 6 are available.

Website States – Yurt #PA5

  • Unit bedding will accommodate 4 adults, 6 person maximum occupancy.
  • Unit able to sleep up to 6 adults; 6 persons is maximum occupancy
  • Parking limited to 2 vehicles
  • Kitchen with stove & oven, full size refrigerator, & microwave.
  • Dishes, silverware, pots & pans, linens, pillows & towels are provided.
  • 1 Reg Queen; 1 Sleeper Sofa Queen; Bunk Bed 2 Twin

Yurts are not close enough for Papa to walk back and forth between campground and yurt,  but they are close enough for Kentucky to go back and forth between the two after Papa retires in the evening.

I peaked into a empty one through a crack in the curtains last year.  I was expecting a dusty worn out one room inside.  I was shocked, at least from what I could see.  More like a moderate hotel, not the Ritz but not Motel 6 either.

Map shows yurts and sites available as of 4/22/2026

Sites available as on 4/22/2026

Option 3– Table Rock Campground #1 – Not Free But Cheapest of Paid Sites

Sites: F-169 and F-171  are family sites, big enough for two trailers and four cars.  All sites have electric and water.

Family Site

Sites #169 and #171 are family sites.

Details for Family Site #171,  according to Table Rock State Park Website
Pad Length: 73 feet x 12 feet
Secondary pad:  71×12; additional electrical pedestal;
NOTE: cannot accommodate two units that both have slide outs/canopies.
Side Limit: on Right
50 AMP
Slope =0
Yards to shower house = 75
Max vehicles: 4
Max Occupancy 12

Cost for Family Sites: $53 each
Cost for single Electric Sites: $30

Pros:

  • Rent campsites 169, 171 and 173 and have room for 5 trailers and Soup Mama’s tent for five days for the cost of $680, $20 less than the deposit at Silver Dollar City Campground.
  • If we only parked 1 trailer and 1 car on site 171 (the site in the middle) we could park toward the road and use the back of the pad for a group area to gather.  Which would limit the number of trailers to 4, if we rented only those three sites. But would give us an area to gather on pavement in the event the ground was wet.

Cons:

  • No place for Papa, which means Kentucky can’t hang out after Papa retires (big tears).

Each option offers something a little different, so it really comes down to what matters most to everyone—comfort, cost, or adventure.

Mona knows I am writing out her plans (not the optional camping spots) and telling you guys “To speak now or forever hold your peace”.  That being said, I posted this on a website that Mona doesn’t know about, unless one of you tell her.

Here are my thoughts. We all want Kentucky & Papa with us, which means making sure Papa has a comfortable place to stay. Most of the cabins at SDCC have stairs, but there is one handicap-accessible yurt at Table Rock State Park according to website. Reserving that yurt does require being registered with the State of Missouri for accessibility—I can take care of that.

The yurt would also give us a shared gathering space during the day, especially if we have cold or rainy weather. It would provide a kitchen for cooking, washing dishes, and so forth.

There’s also the nostalgia factor. If this ends up being the last COH, maybe it would be more special sticking with what we know one more time.

We could always plan something new in 2027—maybe Ohio or Kentucky. I definitely want to keep spending time with all of our patriotic family. I love you all.

    My proposal:
    Table Rock.

Everyone makes their own reservations, with the exception of the handicap-accessible yurt, which I can reserve. Kentucky and Papa could contribute $90 per day toward the yurt, leaving $69 per day remaining. If the rest of us who are camping—Bruce, Derek, Goldie, Jason, Michael, and myself—split that balance, it would come to about $11.50 per person per day.

Stitch and Soup Mama will already have their own yurt, so they wouldn’t need to contribute.

This way, the yurt becomes a shared space for all of us during the day, and a comfortable, accessible place for Kentucky and Papa to stay at night.

    Thoughts? Anybody Second this?

  2. Stitch says:

I’d prefer to stay at table rock with plan to rent a couple of yurts, one for Papa and any others with needs for same, and another communal gathering. I’m very happy sleeping in the car, even (or especially) with my new small roommate. I can afford Mona’s plan but would still likely be sleeping in car and recognize that many would find that unaffordable

  3. Soup Mama Official says:

Sent to Stitch. Ed was thinking of coming from AZ, he would need a bed, we talked about a yurt. Haven’t heard back yet.

Honest opinion, sdc is expensive. I can camp anywhere and will go with group decision. I just want to be with my family ❤️

  4. Kentucky says:

So, 4500/let’s say 10 people. That’s 450 for 5 days so 90 night per person, but if we get 15 that’s only 60 per night per person.?? Gotta think on this. We already have the right of us! Depends how many are dedicated??

  5. Kentucky says:

    Ok…
    1. Silver dollar city is 4500 for Friday – Sunday?? Would we need another place for tues-thursday? Also 92 a day for what?? 92X2 is 184 a day plus our split of 4500..ugh…not sure that’s in the budget!!

    2. Campground is up to y’all, we would be getting hotel or renting one of those their yurts.

    • Kristy Palmer says:

No, $92 is for one person to go to Silver Dollar City Theme park one time. The $4500 is for Silver Dollar City Campground for 5 days. Two separate things.

  6. Bruce Levings says:

I don’t think we will have enough people to cover the $4000 camping , so something like the state park or similar

  7. Kristy Palmer says:

ALSO, I sent this link to Bruce, Soup Mama, Derek and Goldie, Kentucky and Waterboy.    I do not know how to contact Stitch. If there is anybody else that usually camps that you believe should have a say please feel free to share link with them.
